Look Again

One thing I love about the work I do is that I’m rewarded for paying attention to details – looks, sensations, emotional connections. I get to play in the adjectives of life, and I get to draw out the feelings and help chronicle moments for the sake of helping other people recapture those moments. I guess my work is sort of like emotional Tupperware.

What I want to do in the Look Again section is offer assignments to help other people capture bits of ordinary life, too. I first saw this approach taken by Harrell Fletcher and Miranda July at Learning to Love You More, a web project that they’ve since shut down.

My plan is to offer simple assignments similar to what Fletcher was doing, and to have people offer their responses here, where I’ll post what comes back. It’s for fun, but there is a sacred play to this, as ultimately the purpose is to celebrate the ordinary lives of people who bear the image of their Creator.

You are welcome to send responses to any assignment – not just the current one. Just shoot an email to pete@petegall.com with the assignment name/number in the subject line, and I’ll add your contribution to the collection. Thanks for playing along!
